What to wear to forest school:
At natur ni’s Forest School sessions, we believe that the muddier a participant is, the more fun they have had! We politely ask you to send your child or come along in clothes that you don’t mind getting messy!
Preparation and the right clothing is essential to make sure that you or your children get the most out of Forest School.
“There’s no rainbows without a little rain” …and in Wales we have lots of rainbows!
Here’s our recommendation on what to wear:
Waterproof Trousers:
Essential all year around.
In cooler weather wear an extra layer under them or in winter, ski trousers are ideal.
Waterproof coat:
Essential all year around.
Winter – at least 3 layers under coat (e.g. base layer, long sleeved jumper, fleece and coat OR vest, t-shirt, long sleeved jumper, fleece and coat)
Footwear:
Wellies ideally
Or sturdy waterproof walking boots / snow boots
Wool/fleece/fluffy socks are essential in cooler weather/winter
Trousers:
Full length trousers all year around for protection (e.g. from stinging nettles, insect bites etc)
Headwear:
In summer/warmer weather – sunhat
Cooler weather/winter – woolly hat
Gloves: In cooler weather/winter, waterproof, thermal gloves or mittens are ideal.
Plenty of Layers - It is usually a couple of degrees cooler in the shade of the trees so please also bring at least one more than you would normally wear.
Near to Taliesin - we will provide exact location directions, on booking.
